Q. How is Noodle deployed?

A. Noodle can be deployed in two ways.

(Software as a Service) Noodle is hosted at the Vialect Data Centre.

(Server Version) Noodle is hosted on your companies network.

Q. What is the difference between the two options?

A. The functionality is the same with either option.  If you decide to host Noodle internally you will need to provide the hardware required and have the technical resources for installation and back up. 

Q. What databases does Noodle support?

A. Currently Noodle supports, MSSQL, ORACLE and PostgreSQL.  Both MSSQL and Oracle offer your Noodle a FULL TEXT search option.

Q. Is Noodle Customizable?

A. Noodle is very customizable out of the box however Vialect also offers custom development of the Noodle platform if your company has very specific requirements.

Q. Is training required to use Noodle?

A. Noodle is intuitive and has a user friendly interface however user training can be helpful in the first few weeks for the administrators.  For system administrators we provide a very helpful support website.

Q. What is the benefit of having Vialect host our Noodle?

A. By having Vialect host your Noodle you are ensuring that data is being backed up and uptime is never interrupted.  Also no internal IT staff is required for server management.

Q. Can you set up role based security and access control?

A. Role based access can easily be set up within your Noodle. Within the System Tools section, you can set up groups based on job descriptions or departments or any other criteria. You can then assign users to these groups. The groups can be assigned to sections for secured content viewing or to perform management functions such as publishing, editing, routing, approving and deleting content.

Q. Can you import data from MS Outlook?

A. Yes, Noodle provides tools for each user to import/export calendars and contacts from MS Outlook.

Q. Is full text search available?

A. Full text search is available on the hosted version and if you are running either Oracle or MSSQL as your database.

Q. What languages are available?

A. Currently English, French, and Spanish are available.  Additional languages can be added by request.
